BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

The relationship that you will develop with the professionals at Peak Performance is different than the one between you and your primary physician. After you’ve seen your physician, we will work with you on a regular basis to help you restore strength and flexibility, and in many cases help you avoid surgery.

CORE SERVICES

CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT

Concussions are a rising injury to athletes and non-athletes alike. Motor vehicle accidents, falls, work injuries and sports activities can cause injuries resulting in concussion symptoms. More people are playing contact sports and the rates of concussions are rising among student-athletes from grade school to college level. After an injury, approximately 90% of those diagnosed will return to normal activities without medical interventions. The other 10% of concussions will be diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome and can experience the following symptoms.

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Neck pain
  • Dizziness
  • Fogginess
  • Light/Noise sensitivity
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Cognitive/Memory/Attention deficit
  • Mood changes

The days of sitting in a dark room to treat concussions are over. Statistics have shown that as concussion symptoms begin to decrease, physical therapy has been shown to help recover balance, gaze stability, focus, gait, and mood.

Your physical therapist at Peak Performance Sports and Spine has been trained in the evaluation and treatment of concussions. Following a comprehensive targeted examination that includes vestibular/ocular motor screening, exertional testing, balance assessment, and cervical screening, we will be able to develop a unique program that has a specialized focus on your identified deficits.

Our goal is to utilize our clinical knowledge and hands-on skills to allow you to safely return to your sport, job, and/or regular daily activities.

Come in today for baseline testing. With this information in hand, a post-injury test can help us develop a program specific to you and your recovery.

We are proud to offer a more comprehensive vision exam using advanced, state-of-the-art eye-tracking technology. The RightEye system enables our doctors to pinpoint functional vision and brain health issues, identify the root cause of reading problems, and improve athletic performance. In just 5 minutes, this proven, patented technology measures visual skills in ways that a standard eye exam cannot — enabling us to diagnose and treat underlying vision issues that affect our patients’ quality of life.

Your two eyes and brain must all work together to navigate the world. It’s this connection that makes up your dynamic vision. A standard eye exam, however, only checks your eyes’ physical health and ability to focus on stationary objects — it doesn’t measure critical dynamic vision skills such as eye movement and coordination. Signs that you may have a functional vision problem include:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Rereading or skipping lines of print
  • Short attention span
  • Poor reading comprehension
  • Poor coordination or balance
  • Slow completion of work
  • Previous brain trauma (concussions, strokes)
  • Loss of interest in reading
  • Frequent headaches

RightEye Dynamic Vision is a 5-minute, non-invasive test performed at our offices that could diagnose a dynamic vision issue and set you on a path to improvement.

Call us to schedule your RightEye Dynamic Vision test today.

CUSTOM FOOT ORTHOTICS

The goal of using custom foot orthotics is to make your feet feel comfortable in your shoes at all times, while preventing foot pain and providing proper body alignment. Orthotics can be used to treat plantar fasciitis, heel pain, and flat feet. Each individual is slipper-casted to have an exact replica of the foot prior to biomechanical modification.

OWEN'S RECOVERY BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION (BFR) TRAINING

Owen's Recovery BFR is a new computerized tourniquet system that is used to increase muscle strength, size, and activity. The tourniquet (which is similar to a blood pressure cuff) is placed on a limb during exercise, allowing arterial blood flow to reach to the muscle while preventing venous return of the blood. This low-load system allows patients to see the effects of heavy weight lifting without the muscle damage or extended recovery time.
